Busaba Thai Restaurant at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is the latest Thai restaurant presented by SEA Cuisine group, who also manages a lot of popular Thai restaurants in Malaysia including Absolute Thai, Celedon Pavilion KL, Flying Chillies, Thai Thai, Amarin Thai, just to name a few.
Located beside the newly built Pinnacle Sunway which houses EGG (Eight Gourmet Gala), a short walk from Marhaba Yemen Cuisine Restaurant, Busaba Thai Restaurant can be easily spotted from the main road. Those who shop in Sunway Pyramid can also take a short stroll from the shopping mall, through the bridge connection beside Sunway Library Coffee Bar and Taste Enclave, then follow the sign of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa. As you go out from the main door, Busaba Thai Restaurant will be on your right.
Look out for the two iconic wooden horses that stood spectacularly at the Busaba entrance, and be ready to get astonished with the modern grandeur design once pushing the door in.
Every restaurant by SEA Cuisine group is noticeably good with their one-of-its-kind interior. Hence, Busaba Thai Restaurant in Sunway, being one of their biggest restaurants in town, has also inherited a complex mix of colours and textures, maximizing the use of space to result in WOW interior.
Exposed bricks, wooden ornaments, French windows, dark colour steel, web-like partitioning, wooden cushioned chair, king-like sofa, huge paintings, etc., all decor in Busaba Thai Restaurant are clever combinations to create “raw & rustic yet elegant, bold & contradict yet harmony in whole” atmosphere.
While interior in Busaba Thai Restaurant Sunway is highly taken into concerned, their food is not shadowed too. Fine Thai, but at the same time casual with reasonable price, suitable for family dining, friends gathering, private events and corporate functions too.
Chor Moung RM20.90
Begin with something appealing, Chor Moung – six baby blue-purple, shaped into beautiful flower like Thai royal dumplings, stuffed with minced chicken and served with Thai special sauce. A plethora of interesting flavours- flourish chewy + sweet savoury + spicy sweet.
Yam Tua Phoo RM24.90
In Busaba Thai Restaurant, we suggest diners to skip the common papaya Thai Salad, pomelo salad or Thai mango salad and go for Yam Tua Phoo, an angle beans base salad tossed with prawns, minced chicken, boiled egg in Thai dressing. A little spicy, lots of crunch, definitely a must-try appetite opener.
Nam Prik Ka Pi Phak Ruam RM24.90
Nam Prik Ka Pi Phak Ruam is similar to local Malay ulam, just not raw. The dish put together blanched long beans, cauliflowers, broccoli; deep fried sweet potato, eggplants, mini sweet corn, and egg crepe, best with famous Thai shrimp paste dipping sauce.
Seafood Red Tom Yum RM19.90
A Thai meal is not complete without indulge in sourish, hot & spicy tom yum soup. Busaba Thai Restaurant serves tom yum in individual portion, hence diners can order accordingly. We recommend to have one pax red tom yum and one pax of clear tom yum for sharing among 4 pax, together with other main dishes.
Seafood Clear Tom Yum RM19.90
Summergirl prefers clear soup tom yum over red soup tom yum, as it delivers sharper and bolder flavours. Summerkid on the other hand, likes the red tom yum as it is richer, more creamy with coconut milk added within. Busaba is generous with the amount of seafood- mussels, prawns, squid and fish are well immersed in the soup.
Ped Ob Yod Ka Na RM32.90
Busaba Thai roasted duck fares differently from Chinese roasted duck. Not exactly tangled with aroma of spices, but dressed in special red gravy with Hong Kong kailan. Meaty and requires ample of chews, umami sweet, goes well with Thai fragrant rice.
Nuea Uea Rong Hai RM40.90
Sizzling Australian beef strip loin with Northern sauce served on hot plate. Diners can also go for other beef choices such as stir-fried beef slices with hot basil leaves, stir-fried beef slices with ginger and oyster sauce, traditional stewed beef in herbal soup, and sizzling Australian beef strip loin with black pepper sauce served on hot plate.
Kaeng Keaw Wann (Gai/Chicken RM24.90, Nuea/Beef RM27.90, Goong/Prawn RM30.90)
One of our favourite dishes from Busaba Thai Restaurant. Creamy, coconuty, deep in flavour with medium spiciness. Comes with half dozen of crepe that is delicious either dipping with the gravy, or fold in the chicken chunks thickly laid with curry and tuck into the mouth in one go.
Steamed Seabass with Chilli & Lime
Fish in Busaba can hardly go wrong, thanks to the appetizing sauce that blends in tanginess of lime and spiciness of chilli, flavouring up the entire dish. Douse the sauce with rice, that’s how we love to have.
Tab Tim Krob RM16.90
Coming to Thai dessert, we are greedy, trying to dig in as much sweet treat as possible from Thai coconut ice cream to Tab Tim Krob, Mango Sticky Rice, Steamed Tapioca with Coconut Cream, Steamed Pumpkin with Coconut Cream, Steamed Banana with Coconut Cream, etc..
Klauy Cheum RM12.90
Steamed banana is mushy soft, sweet with savoury hint from coconut cream topped above.
Mun Cheum RM12.90
Busaba Thai Restaurant’s Mun Cheum reminds Summergirl on the steamed tapioca with sugar that her mum used to cook for her. Homey in taste, a must-try comfort food.
Fak Thon Sang Ka Ya RM12.90
We’ll rate Fak Thon Sang Ka Ya as Busaba signature dessert, even though we know more customers will go for Tab Tim Krob or Thai Mango Sticky Rice. But this is really good, even Summerkid who stays away from any pumpkin-related food all the time dig in spoon after spoon of this steamed pumpkin laced with coconut cream custard, garnished with sweet egg floss. The delicately soft, smooth and pleasant creaminess makes this dessert a clear winner among all.
Khao Neow Ma Muang RM18.90
Thai favourite, classic dessert- Mango sticky rice served with coconut cream.
Sago Ma Prao Onn RM12.90
Sago and honeydew served in iced coconut milk. Ideal for diners who prefer to have lighter, more refreshing dessert to end the meal with.
Comments: In short, we are glad to try out another good, new Thai restaurant in KL – Klang Valley. Despite the location in a 5-star hotel and thoughtfully design ambience, do not put on ” this restaurant is very classy, very expensive, only for the rich, don’t go in” thought for Busaba. SEA Cuisine aims to provide diners with the best dining experience, sharing their love for Thai food, as well as admirable hand-picked bits & pieces imported from Thailand.
