Stumbled upon OJO Coffee at Bangsar Telawi 3, Kuala Lumpur last week. It was still under renovation and finally opens its door to public at the day showered with lots of love- 14th February 2015, Valentine’s Day. Location: few doors away from LA/PA Cafe and Inside Scoop.
Wood and white colour take the lead in OJO Coffee Bangsar design. While these combination often sums up to modern-homey kitchen style, OJO Coffee on the other hand successfully calls for a more chic and trendy atmosphere through different textures, layers and alignments of wooden planks.
The entire cafe is spacious, thanks to its elongated space. OJO Cafe is brightly lit with natural lights during the day for outdoor seating, while inner area is accompanied with warm, yellow light. We see wood everywhere once stepping inside- angled wooden floors, wooden tables and chairs completed by white-colour steel legs, wooden walls, wooden coffee counter, wooden shelves.
We especially love the small, round table that is creatively made to look like lucking spinning wheel.
We were the unlucky customers to visit OJO Coffee Cafe on their second day of opening. Summergirl happily proceeded to the counter, asking for her usual hot mocha and flat white. The staff said: “Sorry our coffee machine is out of order, the only drink we have now is just OJO Cool Blend.”.
Hence we went for their Cool Blend, which seemed rather interesting too, but pricey. Our Java Chip Cheese Oreo- a mix of milk + Java Chip + Oreo + Cheese came to RM14.85 after service charge. Taste wise: imagine Starbucks Java Chip Frappucino, just less chocolaty, more milky with cheesy touch.
Other choices of OJO Coffee Cool-Blend include Green Tea Horchata (Milk + Matcha+ Horchata), White Chocolate Creme Brule (Milk + White Chocolate + Caramel + Double Caffe), Earl Grey Chocolate (Milk + Chocolate + Earl Grey), Red Velvet Cookies (Milk + Red Velvet + Oreo + Vanilla) and Pima Colada Bubble Gum (Milk + Pina Colada + Bubble Gum).
No trace of American breakfast, pancake, waffle, or any other savoury food so far at OJO Cafe. We only saw two types of sandwiches that didn’t match with their RM10.90 price during our visit. Dessert such as Jackfruit Cream Cake, Nutella Hazelnut and Banana Cake, French Vanilla Cheese Cakes, Tiramisu, Nut Brownie and Red Velvet Cream Cheese Cake at the sweet treat counter look promising but we didn’t try any.
OJO Coffee definitely has its winning points especially for the contemporary interior. No comment on the coffee due to our unlucky visit, but certainly potential as we saw more than just latte, cappuccino on the with-espresso and without-espresso coffee list. We do hope your visit to OJO Coffee is welcomed with all-ready coffee machine, so that you can savour Bubble Gum Espresso, Java Chip Latte and OJO White Coffee.
