The thought of opening The Owls Cafe is not by sudden. Two years has gone and finally, they decided to open The Owls Cafe after much studies, research and discussions. All staffs in the cafe are filled with full passionate about coffee, love coffee, love life. Hence, rest assured, decent coffee, lots of smiles and hospitality are the priority in The Owls Cafe.
Located along Jalan Jalil Jaya 6 in Bukit Jalil , nearby to 103 Coffee Workshop in Sri Petaling, The Owls Cafe turns up to be the very first coffee place in the area, gradually attracts coffee lovers from more than just around the neighbourhood.
Opened merely for two months, it is a surprise that the cafe was fullhouse during our visit last Wednesday morning. Can’t doubt that it will soon becoming one of the most sought after coffee places to hunt down during weekend in KL, or not, during weekdays for more quiet hang out.
This coffee place boasts a homey, cozy atmosphere. Walls painted in white, adorned with colourful, charming wall art of owls to suit the cafe’s name. To complement The Owls Cafe even better, the team further decorated the cafe with comprehensive collection of owls’ theme decor from miniature owl figures to softtoy, pillow covers, and sometimes, in cupcakes.
We love the seats next to the ceiling-to-floor window, as it allows beautiful sunlight to shine through during daytime when the roller blinds are drawn back; and welcomes the tranquillity as night falls.
Cappuccino RMRM8
The Owls Cafe uses different type of beans from time to time. Currently, Toraja coffee, the long been praised Arabica coffee from Indonesia is used.
Magic RM8
Barista recommendation, double ristretto, like a piccolo latte but with more milk.
Apart from the usual milk based coffee of cappuccino, latte or flat white, The Owls Cafe also sum up a list of Signature drinks like Nutty Latte, Rose Latte, Vanilla Latte, Peppermint Chocolate, Peppermint Mocha, etc., gently added with gimmicky flavour to tickle your tastebud.
Rose Latte RM10.00
Pleasantly comfort, lightly infused with floral aroma.
Currently, The Owls Cafe serves only simple dessert, pastry and cakes. The highlights definitely goes to their homemade waffle dedicatedly made with love, crowned with unique name like Rebecca, David, The Queen, The Milo Dinasour and The Classic.
The Classic RM10.00
The friendly staff recommends The Classic, which comprises of waffle, a thick slice of french butter with maple syrup. It goes back to the basic, minus all the toppings and ingredients that lend extra flavours but that’s how we love it, as we get to taste the most original flavours delivered by the freshly made wafer.
Made from scratch, it is crispy at the outside with light coating of buttery fragrance, fluffy soft inside, enhanced with pleasant sweetness from Maple syrup and silky smooth finish from French butter.
Rebecca RM18.00
However, if you preferred waffle that comes colourful, brimming with ingredients, try out Rebecca and David, the so called “couple waffles” in The Owls Cafe. Rebecca waffle is filled with generous amount of strawberries, blueberries, topped with homemade Earl Grey ice cream, garnished almond flakes and drizzled with Maple syrup. Mouthful of texture, yet not too sweet.
While Rebecca falls on more fruity and nutty side, David waffle goes more to creamy and rich, having a combination of bananas, vanilla ice cream, peanut butter cream and chocolate sauce in one serving. Waffles is available only from 12Pm till 5PM, plan your visit to avoid disappointment.
The Owls Cafe will launch savoury waffles, and breakfast choices soon, so that your coffee session at The Owls Cafe can be more enjoyable. Stay tune to their Facebook for latest news.
