The buffet, themed Juadah Iftar, will faetures cuisines from 14 differents states of Malaysia- showcasing and serving up traditional Malaysian dishes with live cooking stations.
Begin with Pembuka Selera, or Salad and Appetizer. Kerabu Tang Hoon, Ayam Panggang Pedas Pucuk Paku, Rojak Buah Sotong Kering Hentian Pagoh, Pecal Jawa Simpang Empat, Kerabu Udang Betik Muda, Kerabu Ayam Carik Daun Selom, Pecal Jawa Simpang Empat, Urap Isi Kepah Bercili, Chicken “lobak”, Som Tam Padang Besar, Popiah Basah Utara Mai and more are aligned at the counter.
The Living Room Westin KL summarizes for diners the “Must Have” appetizers, which go to Telur Masin, Ikan Masin Tanjung Darat, Jeruk Ikan Masin, Hati Ayam Goreng Puyuh Goreng Belado, Ikan Bilis Petai and Paru Belado.
“Mai Kena Dulu” corner brings you few choices of hearty, tummy warming soup including Sup Soto Ayam Bergedil, Szechuan Hot and Sour Soup, “Indian” Rassam Lautan Sulu, Sup Kambing Mamak Berempah, Cream of Mushroom Soup and Super Lambuk. Accompany your soup with Roti Bengali and assorted bread roll & butter.
“Down Town Corner” serves up Chicken Shawarma- Malaysian favourite marinated chicken with condiments; Satay Celup Cheras-boiled skewered seafood, chicken, meat and vegetables with Spicy Peanut Sauce; Pasembur that allows you to mix and match julienned cucumber, potatoes, bean curd, turnip, bean sprouts and prawn fritters with spicy Indian sauce..
Westin KL’s Ramadhan buffet 2014 is one the very few hotels that churn out Kerang Rebus, or fresh boiled cockles with chilli sauce and calamansi; as well as Pulut Kuning Cicah Sambal Bawang- our childhood favourite yellow sticky rice with Onions cooked in chilli paste. Showered the yellow sticky rice with a ladle of curry, it makes you recall the awesome, traditional flavour.
Continue with Malaysia Noodle Station that presents Assam Laksa Utara, Mee Rebus “Tulang”, Laksa Johor Kak Semah, Mee Udang and Nyonya Curry Laksa. We stick to Assam Laksa Utara, the spicy sourish version.
“Kuali Tebal” showcases plenty of spicy, tastebud tickling local delicacies such as Daging Gulai Kawah Nusantara, Gulai Ayam Kampung Pucuk Ubi Kayu, Assam Pedas Ikan Pari, Sambal Paru, Kari Kepala Ikan Bendi, Sambal Goreng Jawa, and Gulai Nenas Ikan Masin.
Move on to “Terang Malam” section that welcomes diners with wholesome dishes from Westin Briyani Rice with Braised Lamb Leg, Boiled Eggs, Fried Shallots, BBQ Style Braised Short Ribs, Roasted Whole Barramundi, Warm Potato Salad, Stir Fried Roasted Duck, Fried Man Tau and Special Chinese Sauce.
“Indian Odsssey Delight” extends the buffet line with Naan Bread, Murtabak, Chapatti, Dhall Thadga, Potato Masala, Reshmi Kebab, Lamb Tandoori, Fish Tikka, Chicken Khadai, Hyderabadi Paneer Tikka Masala, Shabji Jal Frezy, Aloo Ghobi Punjabi, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Vegetable Pakora.
Not to forget is the Chinese corner which is called “Ng Specialties”. Stir Fried Turnip Cake (Char Koay Kak), Stir Fried Butter Prawns with Oats, Chicken Kong Po, Crispy Fried Dory Fillet with Siamese Chilli, Kimchi Fried Rice, Steamed Siew Mai Dumpling, Steamd Prawn Dumpling, Chicken Char Siew Pau, Hainanse Chicken Rice are worth piling up to your plate.
If you have more room for mains, make yourself a plate of pasta. Choose from spaghetti, penne, ribbon pasta and decide to cook in carbonara, aglio olio or tomato base style. Handover your order to chef in-charge, he will cook for you on the spot.
Coming to dessert, you will not want to miss their sweet treat, beautifully line up tier by tier on shelves. Red Velvet with Cheese Frosting, Coffee Cream Puff with Milk Chocolate, Pinky Lychee Pudding, Pulut Tatai with Homemade Kaya, Coconut Tart with Red Glazed Cherry, Cendol Pudding, Red Velvet Cup Cake Bread and Butter Pudding… all seem promising..
But you may need to miss some to indulge in local Nyonya kuih-muih- Putu Piring, Lompat Tikam, Wajik, Lepat Pisang, Kole Kacang, Bingka Ubi, Kuih Lapis, Kuih Talam, Pulut Panggang, Kuih Koci, Karipap Pusing, Kuih Angkor, Ketayap, Dodol, Kuih Lopis Gula Melaka and Pulut Pengat Durian, which is equally good.
