Update: As of May 2017, Tokyo Kitchen at One City Mall is closed down now.
A lazy Sunday afternoon drove us to the newly opened shopping mall in USJ, The One City Shopping Mall with the transparent ‘horrified’ rooftop which is much talked about recently. Well, the rooftop can be scary, but only at night. So we went for late lunch at the Ground Floor, attracted by the Tokyo Kitchen brightly lit with hue yellowish light red lantern, bringing a calm and comfy scene within modernity.
We stepped inside and discovered more. The restaurant is divided into two floors, the special concept for most restaurants in One City. Wooden and bamboo furnishing made up the overall interior, from the dining area, counter, floorings to individual decorative items.
The wall adjacent to the staircases towards second floor was hang with rows and rows of wishes written on wooden plank by patrons, becoming part of the charming decorations that turns the restaurant lively, as it sees a two way communications between patrons and Tokyo Kitchen, rather then just dine and leave.
While the restaurant is designed with modern creativity and Japanese authenticity, the food goes parallel with the creative theme, drawing a wide range of starter, sushi, don, noodles and set in the giant menu to suit even the most discerning palate.
