Our first try on Moet & Chandon Mooncake from Li Yen, The Ritz- Carlton was memorable. And after two years, we were back again to the hotel, feeling glad that Moet & Chandon Mini Peng Pei Mooncake is still available and this time, trying out more variety.
The Chef and his culinary team at Li Yen restaurant present a series of Mini Peng Pei Mooncake priced within RM9.00 to RM16.00. There are four varieties to choose from: The luxury Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial Mini Ping Pei (RM16), Moet & Chandon Mini Peng Pei (RM9.50), Wasabi with Lotus (RM9.00) and Durian Mini Ping Pei (RM10.00).
Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial Mini Ping Pei still goes top in our list, thanks to the Moet & Chandon flavours that delicately infused within the sweet, creamy lotus filling, together with a notable aftertaste of the champagne.
Wasabi with Lotus Mini Ping Pei comes second, with soft, fresh snow skin encased with lotus filling and a touch of wasabi. Taste of Wasabi doesn’t come distinct, but yet subtle enough to sense its existance as you munch on.
Other varieties include White Lotus Paste with Double Egg Yolk (RM21.00), White Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk (RM19.50), White Lotus Paste (RM18.00), Lotus Paste with Double Egg Yolk (RM19.00), Red Bean Paste with Single Egg Yolk (RM15.50), Li Yen” Kam Tui”(RM20.00) and Lotus Paste (RM17.00).
The packaging remains classic and simple, square metal box that can fit in 4 pieces of traditional mooncake or 8 pieces of Mini Ping Pei Mooncake, price depending on size and type. Li Yen mooncakes will be available from August 1st till September 19th 2013. For purchase and pre-order, patrons may call to Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur at (603) 2142 8000.
